Ready to take your pattern-making skills to the next level? In Class 2, you’ll learn how to transform your basic skirt pattern into a new silhouette using professional pattern-manipulation techniques.

Building on the custom skirt pattern created in Class 1, you’ll learn how to manipulate the pattern to create an A-line skirt, then cut and sew your new design.

This 4-hour hands-on class introduces you to the design side of pattern making—teaching you how one basic pattern can be transformed into completely different garments.

During this class, you will:

• Review your personalized basic skirt pattern
• Learn the fundamentals of pattern manipulation
• Understand how darts control shape and fit
• Learn how to transfer and manipulate darts
• Transform your basic skirt pattern into an A-line silhouette
• Redraw and refine your new pattern pieces
• Add seam allowances, grainlines, notches, and pattern markings
• Prepare your pattern for fabric cutting
• Cut your A-line skirt from fabric
• Sew and construct your finished skirt
• Learn basic fitting and finishing techniques
• Leave with your transformed A-line skirt pattern AND the finished skirt you created

Prerequisites:

• Completion of Pattern Making Class 1 is required.
• Students must be able to read a basic ruler (inches and fractions).
• Basic sewing knowledge is required.
